Rihanna postpones Malaysia concert

R&B star Rihanna postponed a concert in Malaysia’s capital, organisers said Tuesday, after pulling out of the recent Grammy awards following an allegation of domestic violence involving her boyfriend.
The Malaysian organisers, Pineapple Concerts, said the William Morris Agency in Los Angeles had told them Friday’s concert would be rescheduled.
It did not refer to the alleged assault, but said that "in light of recent events involving Rihanna", a new date would be set within two weeks.
Malaysia’s conservative Islamic party PAS had called for Rihanna’s performance, part of the "Good Girl Gone Bad" tour, to be banned because her outfits were too sexy
The 20-year-old Barbados-born singer had been due to perform early in the Grammy Awards on Sunday before organizers abruptly announced her withdrawal just before the event.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman neither confirmed nor denied that Rihanna was the victim in an alleged domestic violence incident on Sunday involving her boyfriend, singer-songwriter Chris Brown.

Fireworks are being blamed for starting a spectacular high-rise blaze that engulfed a yet-to-be opened 44-floor luxury hotel in the centre of Beijing.
The 241-room building caught fire as the Chinese’s capital’s skie s were filled with fireworks to mark the annual lantern festival.
One firefighter died and six people were injured in Monday night’s fire that consumed the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
Ziang Jianyong died early on Tuesday morning at a hospital in Beijing from toxic gases he inhaled while fighting the fire, the state Xinhua newsagency said.
Flames consumed the hotel which is situated near the unfinished headquarters of Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, one of the icons of Beijing’s architectural rebirth.

Today let’s talk about Homer Simpson. He is voiced by Dan Castellaneta. Homer was created and designed by cartoonist Matt Groening. Homer is the boorish father of the Simpson family. With his wife, Marge, he has three children: Bart, Lisa and Maggie. As the family’s provider, he works at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Homer embodies several American working class stereotypes: he is crude, overweight, incompetent, clumsy, and lazy; however, he is also fiercely devoted to his family. Despite the suburban blue-collar routine of his life, he has had a number of remarkable experiences.Homer is one of the most influential fictional characters on television, having been described by the British newspaper The Sunday Times as “the greatest comic creation of [modern] time“. He was ranked the second greatest cartoon character by TV Guide and was voted the greatest television character of all-time by Channel 4 viewers.
